Judge at the SGAC ACHIEVE Mission Design Competition

On Sunday 28 September, Dr Yang Yang was invited to judge the annual ACHIEVE Mission Design Competition Grand Final, run by the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC). The ACHIEVE competition is one of SGAC’s flagship educational initiatives, engaging university students and young professionals worldwide in addressing critical challenges in the space sector. This year, teams dedicated six months to developing solutions centred on the theme “Sustainable Space: Resilient Earth”. The Grand Final showcased the top three teams:

  • Aerolite – hybrid analog–FPGA computing for resilient satellite operations
  • CropCosmos – AI-driven forest pest infestation prediction using hyperspectral imagery and climate intelligence
  • RedHorizon – REACT, a deployable emergency pressurisation shelter for Mars EVAs

Congratulations to the winning team, CropCosmos, and thank you to the other two teams for their strong contributions.
